Edirne Province Havsa District Azatlı Village Rural Development and Erosion Control Project

Short description:
Aim of the project: To prevent the agricultural malpractice, to ameliorate the socio-economic structure of the villagers by promoting the agriculture and livestock breeding and to combat the soil erosion. Starting date: 2001, Finishing date: 2005. The Project was done in Edirne Province Havsa District.

Activities: 5,5 tons of different species of fodder crops were planted, grazeland of 1.000 da. was rehabilitated, a pipeline of 3.000 m was constructed to regularize the water flow in order to prevent the soil erosion, 1.000 saplings were planted, 14 km. of road with its infrastructure was constructed , pilot fruit gardens were established and 13.000 grafted walnut, cherry, sour cherry saplings were planted, 30 beehives with bees, 13 pure Caucasian queen bees and 145 kg. of honeycomb were distributed, the landscape of the village was ameliorated, the villagers were educated on beekeeping, erosion, etc.
