Şırnak Province Akçay Village Rural Development and Erosion Control Project

Short description:
Aim of the project: To prevent the agricultural malpractices and the misuse of the agricultural fields, to promote the improvement of livestock breeding, to ameliorate the socio-economic status of the villagers. Starting date: 2002, Finishing date: 2005.

Activities: 8 tons of different species of fodder crops were planted; 2.500 m. of dry walls were constructed in the irrigation fields, 150 sheep for breeding were distributed, a pilot fruit garden was constituted and grafted apple and walnut saplings were planted, the villagers were educated on fruitculture and on greenhouse cultivation.
